2. What's the difference between PVC pipe and HDPE pipe ?
--Raw Material
PVC Pipe material is polyvinyl chloride powder, mixed with some different chemical agents, such as carbonate, wax, stabilizer, CPE and so on.
HDPE Pipe material is high-density polyethylene granule only, sure, master batch is necessary required.
--Pipe Wall
In normal, PVC pipe wall is thinner than HDPE pipe wall under the same pressure. For example: under the same pressure 1.6Mpa and same diameter 110mm, PVC pipe thickness is 6.6mm, HDPE pipe thickness is 10.00mm.
--Flexibility & Rigidity
HDPE pipe is more flexible than PVC pipe, this is easier to make snake the pipes. People always use coiler machine for winding small HDPE pipes. For special purpose function, such as PVC conduit pipe, people use special formula for making bendingable PVC conduit pipes. But for most PVC pipes, it is more rigidity than HDPE pipe.
--Pipe Jointing Type

--HDPE granule material dryer
HDPE ganule material dryer machine is main used in drying and stiring mixed HDPE granule resin with color master batch by hot air, due to HDPE granule material with special characteristics and HDPE pipe needs highest drying grade material.
--HDPE granule material color mixer
HDPE pellet material color mixer machine is main used in HDPE granule resin adding, drying, coloring and mixing with color master batch ( mostly is green/white master batch) according to different colors or surface requires for making differen color line function purpose.

--Single Screw Extruder & Co- Extruder
Single screw extruder is main part of HDPE pipe making machine line. It is used for feeding,transporting, plasticing,melting HDPE resin material. We need different model of extruder for making different size HDPE pipes, you should choose right model of single screw extrusion machine and it can help you get best performance -cost ratio .
Co-extruder is used for making color line of HDPE pipes. Some customers need color lines on the surface of HDPE pipes, so it will adpots two sets of co-extruders for making color lines. Anyway, in normal, one color line should be equipped one set of color co-extruder seperatly.
Single screw extruder and co-exturder are all composed of driven motor, gear reducer box, screw and barrel, casting aluminum heater, cooling blower, hopper and control cabinet.
Driven motor: It is main part of single screw extruder. We'd better choose good brand AC type or DC type driven motor matching with inverter controll for saving power running cost.
Gear recuder box: It is used for connecting motor and for reducing rotating speed of screw through size and teeth of gear changing in the gear box.
Screw and barrel: It is most important part of single screw extruder. Design of single screw is becoming to special and customzied now due to many different kind plasic materials are using. The surface of screw should be paint double alloy for anti-wear.
Casting aluminum heater: It is used for heating barrel and screw which ensure mixed HDPE pellet resin material can be plasticizing and melting under the suitable temperature.
Cooling blower : It is used for cooling barrel and screw. if temperature of screw and barrel will be excess setting temperature, cooling blowers start to work for cooling barrel which avoid PPR granule material resolved in the inside of barrel.
Hopper : It is used for keep the mixed PPR pellet resin material in the silo and make sure material can be into barrel continuously. It is like a material transport station.
Control Cabinet: It is used for control whole cornic double screw extruder running by switchs or PLC programes according to different circuits control required.
--Co-Extrusion Mould & Die Head
Co-extrusion mould and die haed is another important part of plastic HDPE pipe production line. HDPE granule material will be forced into extrusion die and melted mixing together through connect flange by screw forward transported after plasticizing and melting in the inner side of barrel.
It is made by 40CR, the die head is heated by the heater inside of the mold, we use the temperature sensor to check its temperature, and the mold can be discharged by the screw when we need to clean the mold.
The inner side of the mold is galvanized, the zinc layer will be fray off, we need to take the bush and pin to take zinc again after 2-3 years.
Due to extrusion mould and die head are under heatting too and it is still on fluid status after plasticizing and melting in the inner side of barrel on the single screw extruder, mixed HDPE resin material can be come out from die head easy as people required shap,diameter and thickness.
People can make many different diameters and thickness final HDPE pipes with the same extrusion mould body by changing pins and die heads only . It can save much cost of extrusion mould.
--Vacuum Calibrating Cooling Tank
Vaccum calibrating cooling tank is main used for cooling hot HDPE pipes which is from extrusion mould die. It consists of tank body, vacuum pump, water pump, water spray nozzles system, temperature of water control system.
Tank boady is made by stainless steel because of there is water inside of tank and it is should be anti-rust. Length of tank is must be enough to cooling down the temperature of HDPE pipes when HDPE pipe come out from tank. Length of tank is 6 meters or 9 meters according to diameter and thickness of HDPE pipes. For bigger HDPE pipes, people always seperate two vacuum tanks for easy to operation.
Vacuum pump is used for sucking the air from the closet cooling tank, which can keep shape of HDPE pipes is round and surface of HDPE pipes is smooth and shine.
Water pump is used for supply cooling water continuously for forced cooling HDPE pipes and make sure that temperature of HDPE pipe is down.
Water spray system is used for transpoting cold water from water pump to each stainless steel water pipes and spraying cold water on the surface of HDPE pipes for reduce the temperature of HDPE pipes through the many spray nozzles which are connecting the holes on the stainless steel water pipes that around the inner side of tank.
Temperature of water control system is used for changing circuit water in time. As we know, after running some time, the temperature of water in the tank will be rising due to cold water take the heat quantity from hot HDPE pipes and cooling efficiency will be down. So control system will start to drain the hot water from tank body and supply new cold water into tank body automaticly when temperature of water reach to setting temperature value.
--Water Cooling Tank
Water cooling tank is main used for cooling hot HDPE pipes which is from vacuum cooling tank. It consists of tank body, water pump, water spray nozzles system. Due to HDPE pipe is very hard to cooling down, so we need another two sets of water cooling tank for cooling HDPE pipe again.
Tank boady is made by stainless steel & glass because of there is water inside of tank and it is should be anti-rust. Length of tank is must be enough to cooling down the temperature HDPE pipes when HDPE pipe come out from tank. Length of tank is 6 meters or 9 meters according to diameter and thickness of HDPE pipes. Glass is for getting better view of of HDPE pipes and it is easy to check the pipe quality online.
Water pump is used for supply cooling water continuously for forced cooling HDPE pipes and make sure that temperature of HDPE pipe is down.
Water spray system is used for transpoting cold water from water pump to each stainless steel water pipes and spraying cold water on the surface of HDPE pipes for reduce the temperature of HDPE pipes through the many spray nozzles which are connecting the holes on the stainless steel water pipes that around the inner side of tank.
--Haul-off Unit Machine/ Traction Machine
Haul-off unit machine/ traction machine is main used for clamping and pulling the HDPE pipe forward a long length at a constant speed through rubber pad which located on each pedrail.
It consits of driving motor, pedrail/ pulling belt, air cylinder, rubber pad. According to HDPE pipe diameter range, haul-off unit machine will be equipped 2, 3,4,6, 8,10,12 pedrails/pulling belts for make sure traction force is enough to pull HDPE pipe forward.
Pedrails/pulling belts are located under the extrusion axis, which are mechanically adjustable and upper ones are driven by pneumaticlly.
Special silicon rubber pad on each pedrail/pulling belt is soft and anti-wear, which make sure pedrails do not damage HDPE pipes and there is no marks on the surface of HDPE pipes.
--Cutter Machine
Cutter machine is used for cutting HDPE pipes automaticly by PLC controller according to setting length. Working principle is that there are clamps which controlled by air cylinder for clamping HDPE pipes first, then blades which on one movable plate start to cutting HDPE pipe, meanwhile movable plate be start to moving forward along the guide rail and keep the same speed with extrusion line speed , because HDPE pipe is continuous extruding and not stopping.
According to diameter range of HDPE pipes, there are chip-free type cutter, guillotine type cutter and planetary type cutter as options. Each type cutter with it's special features for ensure it is right type for some plastic pipes.
For HDPE pipe cutting function, we always use chip-free cutter machine and planetary type cutter , the cutting surface of the HDPE pipe is smooth and elegance.
Planetary cutter is delivered as a single cut unit and used for cutting HDPE pipes outdiameter over 110mm with chamfer function. It consits of oil pump station, driving motor, rotary bearing,clamps, blower, air cylinder ,guide rail and moveable plate. Oil pump is used for offer enough pressure to ensure push blade touch the around surface of pipes . There are two driving motors on this machine, one motor is used for cutting , another motor is used for driving rotary bearing for keeping blade around pipes.
--Stacker or Coiler ( Optional)
Stacker is used for stock final HDPE pipes according to it's diameter range. It consits of air cylinder, wheel and steel frame.
Coiler is used for winding smaller HDPE pipe automaticly. There are two type of coilers, one type is single disc coiler, anther one is two disc coiler.
4. What's the HDPE pipe making process ?
HDPE pipe making process is almost the same with other kinds plastic pipes making process,such as PPR pipe making process, PVC pipe making process. Sure, it is also some different with other plastic pipe making process too. Due to there are color lines of HDPE pipes, so we always use co-extruder machines together with main single screw extruder for making HDPE pipes.
By the way, this machine can make PE-RT pipe or PPR pipes too if change some parts only. So it can save some cost for customers.
